My daughter lives in St. Paul, MN. Yup...with her husband and two of our four grandchildren. They are worried. WE are worried because desperate situations sometimes result in people doing unimaginable things.
But here's the deal: the minute we allow assumptions to be made about the content of one's character because of the color of their skin, America loses.
Every single person in America loses.
The ideals that form the bedrock of our country include justice, freedom, equality, opportunity, and the common good. There is no place for racism in those ideals. There is no place for hate in a country that prides itself on being the beacon, the light of world wide leadership. It's time to look in the mirror and reaffirm who we are: land of the free, home of the brave... for ALL. You should never have to be afraid of who you are or how you look in America. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. sm
